The Governing Body said it ... are you ready !!!!!!!!!!!!
by run dont walk ini was at a funeral this weekend, the first time i'd been in a kingdom hall in 13 years, the talk was short about a half hour, and all jw stuff as expected, but the one part of the talk made me laugh, the speaker said :.
"we (a group of elders), had the oppourtunity to speak with a member of the governing body at the assembly, and he said : "we the governing body are confident that armageddon is close, and are ready for jehovah's day, are you ready ???"".
i couldn't believe my ears, they will never learn.

Awake "the generation of 1914 will not pass away, the Creator's promise" ???
by run dont walk inwe all know this phrase very well from the masthead of every awake magazines from 1983 - 1995.. my question is ... exactly how long did this run, and why was it stopped in the 1980's as well of course in 1995. in coc it says it ran from 1988 - 1995, when i was home last summer had a chance to look at some old bound volumes, and i know it was in as early as 1983, i have heard that it was taken out in 1987 and put back in about a year later in 1988, is this true,.
can someone look through their bound volumes and figure out exactly how long this ran, and was it taken out for a little bit, and what replaced it, in 1987 and 1995.. also what did it say before this staement was ever printed back in the early 80's or late 70's,.
thanks, sorry i dont have a cd-rom or bound volumes to look it up myself

When were the Watchtower's best moments?
by JH inare they in their best moments right now, since they never had as many witnesses as now worldwide, or were their best days somewhere in 1950's or 60's or 70's before deception set it.
did the watchtower ever have any credibility somewhere in time?

Not many from 33-1919
by ajie inread a post yesterday where someone had the number of partakers in 1935 the cut off year, the number of partakers(annointed) was 52465 this dosnt leave many places for the people before the org was chosen in 1919.so the total number of places in heaven before 1935 was 91535.it seems that there cant of been many true followers in the 1902 years prior to their being chosen,in fact it works out there were only 48 annointed spaces per year.but suddenly from 1919 to 1935 a period of only 16 years we have an increase of holy ones to 3279 per year .this is so obviously rubbish, and how the hell did they no there were 91535 annointed before them, hope that all makes sense.

Watchtower can be sued for NOT allowing blood transfusions ???
by run dont walk in.
i was watching the news today in alberta canada, saw a preview for the 6 o'clock news tonight mountain time channel 3, there will be a piece about a former jw, father (i believe it is lawrence) who's daughter died of leukima, and was not allowed to have blood because of her religion.
apparently the court has ruled that he can sue the watchtower for negligence, hopefully someone can tape this news piece and put in on the net, unfortunately i don't know how to do that.. go lawrence !!!!!!!!

Zealous JW`s having children......
by jambon1 inwhen we had our children we planned them.
we made this known to any in the cong who asked if we 'got a surprise' when we found out we were pregnant.
we basically said, 'no, we wanted children'.

Any HIV experiences with witnesses ????
by run dont walk inwe had one brother who became a witness after he contracted hiv, he was very subdued and very willing to learn and very into the "truth", i guess that can really have an effect on you.
he was very nice, i did feel sorry for him.
it is a very sad way to die, and a terrible way to life out your last days.

Why do JW's elders act like their failed predictions is no big deal?
by booker-t ini must admit after being an ex-jws for over 15 years now i still get fustrated at jw's elders when they act so non-chalant about the watchtower's prediction failures.
i was talking to a jw elder just the other day and he was trying to explain away that the society made errors in dates in the past but they are not "false prophets".
i was not even calling them false prophets he was the one that brought up the term.

Has the Rutherford class all passed on, and JW's bury his beliefs ?
by run dont walk inmy family mentioned that there is no reason to read older publications when new ones are available,.
it got me thinking, as the 1914 generation is all but gone, what about the rutherford witnesses, how many are still around that were witnesses when rutherford was king, he died in 1942, that would make the youngest 64, as a baby, providing they were a witness, and at the time there was probaly only 300,000 - 500,000 witnesses max.. with no one around do jw's simply just disregard his beliefs ??
?, will the same happen with franz's beliefs in 30 or 40 years ?.
